INTERESTING STUFF!

Adirondack (Red) Spruce
Red Spruce (Picea rubens) is a tree which is native to eastern North America. Its habitat ranges from eastern Quebec to Nova Scotia (where is the Provincial Tree), and from New England South in the Adirondack and Appalachian Mountains to western North Carolina. “Adirondack” Spruce is a term referring to Red Spruce which specifically is harvested in the Adirondack Mountains of upstate New York. All Adirondack Spruce is Red Spruce but not all Red Spruce is Adirondack Spruce. I have been fortunate to locate a source for true Adirondack Spruce. My suppliers are patient enough to supply each top with bracewood cut from the same billet as the top itself. I believe that matching the bracewood to the top contributes to a more stable and tone-efficient structure. My suppliers tell me that I am a pain!

Here is a recent shipment of Adirondack Spruce tops with color-coded, matched bracewood.

33-ECHO
Although this is my Secret Page, my life-long love of aviation is no secret to anyone who knows me. The first sound that I made as a baby very closely resembled a Pratt & Whitney Radial Aircraft Engine! Pilots refer to each other’s and their own airplanes by the last 3 digits of the aircraft’s registration or N number. The last digit of the N number is generally a letter and is pronounced in Phonetic Alphabet such as Alpha, Bravo, Charlie, Etc. Pilots might forget another pilot’s name, but we always remember their airplane’s moniker. (“I ran into what’s-his-face the other day in 2-Bravo-Whiskey”)

33-Echo is my airplane. I have owned this beautiful and pampered Cessna Skylane for 7 years and this airplane has brought me some of the most joyful experiences of my life. (I have also had the crap scared out of me a couple of times which served to further my knowledge and proficiency). 33-Ehco is the only thing that I have ever owned for which the “new” never wears off. Every time I open the hanger doors my heart beats a little faster and I am reminded that I am blessed beyond words. You would truly have to be a pilot to understand. Anyway, here’s 33-Echo:

Ain’t she a doll?
